The International Association of Computational Mechanics (IACM) is established to promote computational mechanics in science and engineering. The organization has its affiliate centers divided into three regions. These are Euro-Africa, Americas, and Australia-Asia. The association brings together stakeholders including the academics, industry and other experts in the field of computational mechanics through its various congresses that are organized at scheduled intervals.
The World Congress on Computational Mechanics (WCCM) is the major congress hosted by IACM.
WCCM congresses hold at scheduled dates in any of its three regions every two years. Each region is allotted a four-year circle to host the Congress after which it goes to other regions.
The congress which started about 21 years ago in the USA has been hosted in many cities around the world.

The 2014 Event
The 11th Congress of computational Mechanics was a special event that was organized by IACM and ECCOMAS. These are the two major organizations that promotes computational mechanics globally through their conferences.
The congress brings together the world Congress on Computational Mechanics (WCCM) and the two major affiliates of ECCOMAS, European Conference on Computational Mechanics, ECCM and European Conference on Computational Fluid dynamics, ECFD.
The 11th Congress of computational Mechanics was a special event that was organized by IACM and ECCOMAS. These are the two major organizations that promotes computational mechanics globally through their conferences.
WCCM XI – ECCM V – ECFD VI 2014 was hosted in Barcelona, Spain for the first time from July 20 – 25, 2014. With attendees numbering around 4000 participants with representatives’ from 52 countries, the joint event was a success story of great discoveries and insights. The Spanish media and several other media mentions attests to its success.
A Similar Event Underway In 2020
Much like the 2014 joint-organization between ECCOMAS and IACM, the 2020 edition promises to be another opportunity for a joint host between the two notable associations on Computational mechanics. Paris, France will be welcoming participants from around the globe in 2020 in what is expected to surpass the feat achieved in the 2014 edition in Barcelona, Spain.
